Film School Rejects

There is an inspiration behind everything in the world. Artists paint because once they saw something beautiful they want to replicate, writers are inspired by the great authors of the past and filmmakers follow that trend also. Just like those examples, film bloggers and reviewers are inspired by others in their field.

Film School Rejects Home Page

The blog that has inspired me to create this website is The Film School Rejects. I have watched their YouTube channel and read their articles for much of my teenage years. They are everything that I want to do with this website.

The Layout

A website’s layout is vital to its success. If a user gets onto your site and hates the color scheme or the structure then they will leave. Unappealing sites obviously have massive bounce rates( user get on a site and immediately leave).

The Film School Rejects site is a perfect example of web design. The site is clean and crisp due to the decision to rely on two base colors. Red and white are colors that pop off the screen but don’t come across as overly flashy or distracting. The simple design allows for the emphasis of images which is always awesome for readers. The human brain finds images more appealing so why not just make that the focal point of your site? The featured image for each article really catch attention and once you click on the image, the article is always just as good.

Content

The longer I work on the site the more I realize how hard it is to continuously create content. In the beginning there is so much to write about. There are all these movies you have recently seen and want to share with the world. After a bit though the reality of writing sets in. The articles can be funny and should be informative and entertaining to the audience, but the work for the author is difficult.

The Film School Rejects writers are fantastic and their articles are both entertaining and insightful. The articles are well-structured so that you can read quickly and easily but are bursting with information. Every single time I read one of their articles I am there for hours clicking to the next article. Much like the YouTube wormhole we have all been stuck in at 3 a.m. It is really hard these days to create content that people want to read. No one really reads if they don’t have to but this site will make you want to read.

The variety of the content on their channel is also fantastic. It seems that have an article for everything I have ever seen. From blockbuster films to that one movie you woke up to at midnight when you were a kid. I did not even know half the things I do now about the entertainment industry without this site.

Conclusion

To end this article I just want to really shout out the Film School Rejects and all the other film blogs and movie channels. I enjoy a lot of things in life, but there are very few things I love. Besides the obvious/required ones like family and friends, movies/TV/comics have always topped the list. Sites like this have brought me so much joy over my life. I can’t even count how many times I stayed up all night to learn more about a movie. I hope that one day something I create can do the same things for others that Film School Rejects has done for me.
